In University, we were challenged to design and assemble packaging for an item inspired by a chosen movie or T.V. show. Napoleon Dynamite is a film that brings me nostalgia from my childhood. The aesthetics and over-arching themes drew me to turn this quirky classic to a branding identity.
The name comes from a fan-favorite line when a school bully urges Napoleon, the lead character, to "give [him] some of [his] tots", a snack that he had saved in his pant pocket to eat during class. Each lip balm is meant to be used for three important settings in the film: school, meal time, and prom.
The colors for the brand were chosen after examining the selective color palette used throughout the movie. In nearly every scene, orange, blue, and red can be found. The logo font and scribbles reflect Napoleon's drawing skills. Additionally, the packaging is rather simple to reflect the simple plot and cinematography of the film.
Each ingredient label reflects popular quotes found in the movie.
